The Nanton District Assembly held its Accountability Series Forum this morning, 20th August 2026, as part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in the development process of the district.
The program brought together stakeholders, traditional authorities, Assembly officials, and other invited guests to review development activities, projects, and programs being implemented across the Nanton District.
The program commenced with a courtesy call on the Nyang Nanton, followed by the arrival of dignitaries and invited guests and an opening prayer. The District Coordinating Director (DCD) welcomed participants and outlined the purpose of the forum.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) subsequently delivered a brief presentation on the activities and development initiatives of the Assembly. This was followed by a keynote address by the Regional Minister, who spoke on the importance of accountability, effective governance, and development at the local level.
The District Planning Officer (DPO) also presented an overview of the Assembly’s projects and programs. The presentation provided stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about the progress of various development interventions across the district.
A question-and-answer session followed the presentations, allowing participants to seek clarification, raise concerns, and make contributions on issues relating to the development of the district.
Stakeholders Inspect and Commission Completed Projects
As part of the day’s activities, stakeholders also embarked on a site monitoring exercise to selected project locations within the district.
The exercise enabled participants to physically inspect some of the completed development projects and assess their state and readiness to serve the communities for which they were undertaken. During the exercise, stakeholders also commissioned a number of the completed projects, formally marking their completion and availability for use by the intended beneficiaries.
The site visits provided a practical complement to the discussions held during the Accountability Series Forum, allowing stakeholders to see first-hand some of the development interventions implemented by the Assembly.
The forum concluded with closing remarks and a closing prayer.
The Accountability Series Forum reinforced the Nanton District Assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability, stakeholder engagement, and responsive local governance, while providing an avenue for citizens and stakeholders to participate in discussions on the development of the district.
