The Nanton District Assembly on Friday, 9th October 2026, received a delegation led by the Head of the Local Government Service, Professor Lord Kwaku Mensah, for a general staff meeting aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency, professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery within the Local Government Service.
The visit brought together staff of the Nanton District Assembly and key officials from the regional and national levels of the Local Government Service. Among the accompanying officials was the Regional Coordinating Director for the Northern Region, alongside other members of the delegation.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Head of the Local Government Service to interact directly with staff, discuss issues affecting local government administration, and reinforce the importance of professionalism and commitment to duty in the delivery of public services.
General Staff Meeting
The meeting commenced with an opening prayer, followed by introductions of officials and staff present. The Honourable District Chief Executive (DCE) subsequently delivered the welcome remarks, expressing appreciation to the Head of the Local Government Service and his delegation for visiting the Assembly.
In his address, Professor Lord Kwaku Mensah engaged staff on matters relating to the effective functioning of the Local Government Service, emphasizing the importance of discipline, professionalism, accountability, and improved administrative practices in promoting efficient service delivery.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for staff to participate in interactive discussions, seek clarification on issues of concern, and share perspectives on matters relevant to their work and the overall performance of the Assembly.

A closing prayer was subsequently offered to bring the meeting to an end.
Visit to the Chief of Nanton
Following the general staff meeting, Professor Lord Kwaku Mensah, accompanied by the Honourable DCE, the District Coordinating Director (DCD), and other staff members of the Assembly, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Nanton.
The visit provided an opportunity to pay homage to the traditional authority of Nanton and acknowledge the important role of traditional leadership in promoting peace, unity, and community development.
The courtesy visit also reflected the importance of collaboration between local government institutions and traditional authorities in advancing the development agenda of communities within the district.
After the visit to the Chief of Nanton, the Head of the Local Government Service and his delegation departed for Tamale.
