The Nanton District Assembly held its Second Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Third Assembly on Thursday, 13th August 2026, bringing together Assembly Members, management, and relevant stakeholders to deliberate on matters concerning the development and administration of the District.
The meeting provided a platform for members to consider key issues affecting the district, review progress on ongoing development activities, and deliberate on matters requiring attention to improve service delivery and local development.
The proceedings commenced with an opening prayer and roll call by the secretary, followed by a welcome address from the Hon. Presiding Member. Members subsequently considered and adopted the minutes of the previous meeting after corrections, with matters arising also receiving attention.
A major item on the agenda was the Seasonal Address by the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE). The address provided an opportunity to update the Assembly on developments within the District and to outline issues relating to the implementation of the Assembly’s programs and priorities. Assembly members subsequently discussed the issues raised in the address.
The meeting also featured the presentation of the Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC) Report, followed by the presentation and discussion of the Executive Committee’s Report. These sessions allowed Members to consider issues referred to the respective committees and deliberate on matters requiring decisions or further action by the Assembly.
Assembly Reviews Progress on Legacy Projects
As part of discussions on the Assembly’s development activities, members sought an update from the District Engineer on the status of legacy projects within the District.
The District Engineer explained that the projects were at the tail end of implementation, with steps being taken to facilitate the completion of outstanding works. He indicated that letters had been issued to contractors as part of the process and that the necessary activities were currently ongoing.
He further explained that, owing to budgetary constraints facing the District Assembly, five (5) legacy projects had been selected for completion during the year. The prioritization is intended to enable the Assembly to direct its available resources towards completing selected projects rather than spreading limited funds across all outstanding projects.
The discussion underscored the Assembly’s continued interest in monitoring development projects and ensuring that resources committed to infrastructure and other development interventions result in completed projects that benefit residents.
The meeting continued with deliberations on other matters of interest to the Assembly before it was brought to a close with closing remarks and a closing prayer.
The Second Ordinary Meeting therefore provided an important platform for the Assembly to assess ongoing activities, deliberate on reports and development issues, and provide direction on matters affecting the socio-economic development of the Nanton District.
