On Wednesday, 1st October 2025, the District Health Directorate brought Heads of Department and Unit leaders together for a one-day sensitization forum on Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The event took place at the District Coordinating Director’s (DCD) office at 11:00 am.
HPV is a common virus that can lead to serious health issues, including cervical cancer, which remains one of the biggest health threats to women worldwide. The good news is—it can be prevented. Through vaccination, early screening, and awareness, communities can protect their families and future generations.
At the forum, participants discussed:
- What HPV is and how it spreads
- Why vaccination and early detection matter
- The role of community leaders in spreading awareness
The presence of Heads of Departments and Units highlighted a united front in tackling this health concern. By equipping leaders with the right knowledge, the Directorate is ensuring that correct information reaches every home, school, and workplace in the district.
Call to Action: Protect Your Family, Protect the Future
The District Health Directorate encourages all parents and guardians to take action by:
✅ Ensuring eligible children, especially girls, receive the HPV vaccine
✅ Supporting regular health screening for women and young adults
✅ Talking openly about HPV and prevention in families and communities
Together, we can prevent HPV-related illnesses and safeguard the health of our district. Let’s stand together for a healthier, brighter future.
