The Nanton District Assembly has successfully inaugurated and oriented the Disability Fund Management Committee in a ceremony held on Thursday, 25th September 2025, at the Pentecost Church in Nanton.
The event, which commenced at exactly 10:00 a.m., brought together 24 participants drawn from various departments and partner institutions, reflecting the district’s commitment to a collaborative and inclusive governance process.
In attendance were the Hon. District Chief Executive, the Hon. Presiding Member, and the District Coordinating Director, alongside representatives from the Social Welfare and Community Development Department, Health, Education, Agriculture, Planning, Audit, Budget, Human Resource, Environmental Health, and other key units.
During the inauguration, participants were taken through an orientation session highlighting the core responsibilities of the committee. The training emphasized transparency, accountability, and the need for prudent management of the Disability Fund to ensure that resources reach the intended beneficiaries—particularly in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship support for persons with disabilities.
The District Chief Executive commended the committee members for accepting the call to serve, stressing that the Disability Fund is not just a financial intervention but a tool for empowerment and social inclusion. He urged members to work diligently, with fairness and integrity, so that the fund has a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable citizens in the district.
The inauguration was also an opportunity for participating departments to reaffirm their support for the Assembly’s drive towards inclusivity. The cross-sectoral presence underscored the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
The Nanton District Assembly remains optimistic that the newly inaugurated committee will steer the Disability Fund with vision and dedication, ensuring that the district continues to advance in its commitment to equity and opportunity for all.
