The Local Government Service, in collaboration with E-Solutions Consulting and the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) of the Northern Region, organized a Smart Workplace™ training program for staff of the Nanton District Assembly. The training formed part of efforts to enhance efficiency, digital communication, and service delivery within the Local Government structure.
The day’s program began promptly at 10:20 am with an opening prayer, followed by self-introductions from all participants. In his welcome address, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) of Nanton emphasized the importance of adapting to technology-driven administrative processes. Representatives from the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) also outlined the objectives of the training, highlighting how the Smart Workplace™ platform would transform traditional office operations into modern, seamless digital workflows.
Session 1: E-Memo & Correspondence Management
The first session, led by E-Solutions Consulting, focused on electronic memos (e-Memo) and correspondence management systems. Participants were trained on handling incoming and outgoing correspondence through the platform, ensuring faster processing, improved documentation, and greater accountability.
Session 2: E-Leave, Shared Files & Microsoft Teams
The training continued with an in-depth session on other key Smart Workplace™ features, including:
- E-Leave Management System – a digital platform to apply for and approve staff leave efficiently.
- Shared Files & Helpdesk – for collaborative work and quick technical support.
- Vehicle Request System – digitizing official vehicle requests for improved transparency.
- Microsoft Teams – enhancing virtual collaboration and communication among staff.
Engagement & Closing
The training concluded with a Q&A session, where staff sought clarifications and shared feedback. Officers from OHLGS, E-Solutions Consulting, and the RCC addressed the questions and encouraged staff to fully embrace the new system.
In his closing remarks, the District Coordinating Director of the Assembly thanked participants for their active involvement and reiterated management’s commitment to digital transformation in local governance.
