The district has taken a practical step toward inclusion with the distribution of plastic chairs to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). This intervention targets a simple but real need—basic seating—often overlooked in support programs.
Five electoral areas benefited from the exercise: Nanton, Nanton-Kurgu, Tampion, Zieng, and Zoggu. Beneficiaries were selected from registered PWDs within these communities to ensure the support reached those it was intended for.
While a plastic chair may appear modest, its impact is not. For many PWDs, proper seating improves comfort, mobility, participation in community activities, and overall dignity. These are everyday essentials that make a tangible difference.
This distribution reflects a traditional, community-focused approach to social support: identify a need, act directly, and deliver resources where people live. It also reinforces the district’s commitment to equitable development by ensuring no electoral area is left behind.
Going forward, sustained and well-coordinated support—combined with accurate beneficiary data and community oversight—will be key to deepening the impact of such initiatives. Small, practical interventions like this remain one of the most effective ways to improve daily living conditions for PWDs across the district.
