In a significant step towards environmental sustainability and beautification, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has generously sponsored seedlings for a variety of trees to be planted around the newly constructed Nanton District Assembly Complex. This green initiative is part of the District’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental stewardship and improve the landscape around public infrastructure.
The EPA’s support included the provision of seedlings for mango, teak (tick) tree, neem (nim) tree, and mahogany — all selected for their ecological, medicinal, and economic benefits. These tree species are known to offer shade, purify the air, improve soil quality, and contribute to long-term climate resilience.
The planting exercise was carried out with the collaboration of local officials, staff of the District Assembly, and community members, who came together to ensure the successful greening of the new administrative area. The presence of these trees will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the complex but also symbolize the District’s commitment to sustainable development.
The Nanton District Assembly expresses its profound gratitude to the EPA for their timely intervention and continuous support in preserving our environment for future generations.
